MAJOR DUTIES:
The incumbent will serve as an entry-level math statistician, working on segments of larger projects that provide a picture of the U.S. economy.  Estimation and research work are designed to provide experience and develop familiarity with the wealth of economic statistics BEA produces.

Duties include:
-    Collecting and analyzing data from a wide variety of sources
-    Developing and using tables, charts, and graphs for analytic purposes
-    Preparing estimates and interpretive reports
-    Conducting research
-    Developing and improving methodologies to enhance BEA's economic statistics
-    Using and developing statistical computer applications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date.
One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade.
 
To qualify for the Band I (GS-5 level) applicants must meet the basic education requirements above.

To qualify for the Band II (GS-7 level) applicants must meet the basic education requirements with one year of graduate level education OR have one year of specialized experience at the GS-5.

To qualify for the Band II (GS-9 level) applicants must meet the basic education requirements with 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR have specialized experience at the GS-7 level.

Specialized Experience :
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level by the closing date of the announcement.

Examples of qualifying experience include statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying known statistical techniques to data such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  Your degree must included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester
hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
