Qualifications:
• Expertise in working with promotional analytics data elements and merging large complex data sets.
• Familiarity with external vendor formats for mailing-list/promotional data.
• Familiarity with mailing list data sets and formats
• Prior proven success in developing and presenting business-oriented analytics in the promotional effectiveness domain
• Prior success learning new technologies.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills (oral and written) required.
• Education: Bachelors Degree, (Masters Degree a plus) – Computer Science, Business, Informatics.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills using very large transactional databases; strong background in data management
• Strong, demonstrated business analytical skills.
• Strong understanding of database systems/language/platforms;
advanced proficiency in SAS data step programming, strong SQL knowledge
and extensive experience with relational databases and spreadsheet
analysis
• SAS Macro language and SAS/ODS is helpful
• Strong PC computer skills including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
• Must have a high level of organization and interpersonal skills,
flexibility to cope with change, and ability to multitask across a
variety of assignments
• Self-starter, able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Maintain a high degree of professionalism in reporting relationships and interpersonal interactions.
• Minimum of 3-5 years related experience

Outcomes Research provides the robust statistical analysis to support
the value propositions of Medco’s products. Outcomes Research
also provides the quantitative analytics for Medco’s Drug Trend
Report, the company’s flagship analytic.
Outcomes Research sits in the Clinical Analytics, Outcomes and
Reporting (CAOR) group within the Department of Medical and Analytic
Affairs (DMAA) organization led by the Chief Medical Officer.
Outcome Research’s primary role is to provide advanced analytical
support by conducting health outcomes research, developing new metrics,
evaluating effectiveness of plan design and cost saving strategies,
performing studies for Medco’s pharmacogenomics strategy, and
providing innovative analytics for Medco’s newest directions,
including the Therapeutic Resource Centers, Medicare Part D business,
and the Disease Management strategy. In addition, Outcomes Research
provides ad-hoc support to Medco’s Public Relations group to
develop and support media focused selected health topics.
The Outcomes Research group’s work is mostly custom analytics,
both new and ad-hoc that often require study design development and
statistical modeling.
• Create analytical datasets to support
research for effectiveness of Medco’s promotional tactics and
programs, including working with external vendors and their data
formats.
• Work with external data vendors to resolve file format and data issues and create file format specifications.
• Perform descriptive analyses to provide information on member
targeting and participation in opting in for lower cost therapy
alternatives, mail fulfillment and delivery, Medco’s health and
wellness partnerships (Optimal Health), Therapeutic Resource Centers,
and other programs
• Work independently to create an analytical data set, select and
correctly use descriptive statistical methods, validate and document
results
• Be personally accountable for one’s own work performed

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, internal and external customers
