Quality Engineer
This position is responsible for manufacturing
quality. The position is intended to assure and improve the
manufacturing of defect-free material, manage the disposition of
nonconforming manufacturing material, and interface with plant
personnel for corrective action and quality improvement.
Position Responsibilities (Essential functions):
- Ensures manufacturing quality systems are implemented and maintained.
- Lead the development and implementation of process controls.
- Develop and maintain process control plans.
- Coordinate and investigate quality issues on the shop floor, from start to permanent corrective action
- Respond to internal and external customer complaints.
- Coordinates and assists with tear down of quality defective parts to locate problems.
- Writes procedures for repairing and sorting material.
- Writes instructions and trains operators to use gauging equipment.
- Performs capability studies on equipment.
- Communicates with operators, other departments, suppliers, to resolve quality issues.
- Completes necessary reports and paperwork.
- Assist manufacturing in problem solving techniques
- Establish parameters and conduct machine and process capability studies on new and existing machines and processes
- Conduct “Design of Experiments” studies to determine prime causes of problems and corrective actions
- Manage failsafes within the plant to assure proper control
- Review and update procedures, acceptance standards, and control plans as necessary
- Perform analysis and prepare reports on machine &
process capability, Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (Gage
R&R), and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Provide educational product training information to manufacturing personnel
- Comply with all Company policies
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare and conduct quality training programs for employees
- Serve as a backup for other Quality Department positions
Qualifications:
Education: B. S. degree in Engineering or related technical field is preferred.
Certification: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer status required (or expected to be achieved)
Experience: One plus years of Quality Engineering work preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Trained in AIAG APQP process / Customer launch process preferred.
