Job Title: Director – Methodology Implementation
 
Morningstar`s Data business seeks an innovative leader for our methodology development and implementation team. This high-profile position will lead initiatives to create and implement new methodologies and models capitalizing on Morningstar`s vast global investment data resources. As the Director – Methodology Implementation, you`ll develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of our institutional software and data clients. Typical projects may include establishing models for calculating data points (e.g., indexes, glide paths, etc.); developing a standardized investment data calculation library for use by various Morningstar products and production processes; and solving potential storage and scalability issues as we expand our investment data coverage to meet our clients` business needs.

The Director – Methodology Implementation will spearhead technology development projects. You will establish project plans and timelines. You will manage a team of developers, overseeing the specifications documentation, design, and testing phases of a project. You will be responsible for ensuring that new methodology developments and ongoing production activities are delivered on time and with high reliability. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of technology concepts to ensure that we always create practical solutions.

Strong research, leadership, and proactive problem-solving skills are essential for this position. We seek an individual who is fluent in translating business needs into methodological and technical concepts and has a track record of creating revenue-generating data models or tools. Candidates should have five or more years of experience in the investment industry with a focus in financial engineering or quantitative investment analysis. A master`s or PhD degree in financial engineering, computer science, or mathematics is required. Programming experience is preferred.
