Faculty Position in Industrial and Systems Engineering
THE UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AMHERST invites applications for a
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the
Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in the area of
Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. A Ph.D. degree in
Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a closely related field
is required. We especially encourage candidates with interests in
Healthcare Systems including Medicine, Biology and Bioinformatics and
Systems or Services Engineering.
Faculty members are expected to develop a strong sponsored research
program, mentor graduate students and contribute to the teaching and
learning experience of undergraduate and graduate students.
The University of Massachusetts Amherst is situated ninety miles west
of Boston in the vicinity of four vibrant liberal arts colleges in a
region offering exceptional and diverse cultural and recreational
opportunities.

teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, names of at least
four persons w ho may be contacted regarding the candidate’s
qualifications and a brief abstract for a seminar to be presented if
invited for an interview. The department, with twenty four
full-time faculty members (three female, two Hispanic) has a strong
