Corporate Risk Management Expert
Overview: The Corporate Risk Management Initiative is a
cutting-edge group within McKinsey which links together all of our
consultants worldwide who help clients on issues relating to risk
management and risk-informed strategic decision making. The
group’s work cuts across all industry sectors except banking and
insurance. The most active sectors include global energy and materials,
pharmaceutical/medical products, consumer and packaged goods, travel
and logistics, high tech/telecom, and private equity. The group also
takes a cross-functional view which incorporates approaches linking
strategy, corporate finance, and operations. The mix of work involves
advanced quantitative modeling of risk, but the emphasis is on
supporting value-focused actionable business decisions by top
management, and on capability building within the client organization.
Positions are presently offered in Montréal, and Houston.
Alternative locations worldwide possible for senior, experienced
candidates.
Detailed Description: The Corporate Risk Management Expert will:
• Serve as a risk thought leader/team advisor on client
engagements, shaping problem solving & discussion around topics
related to risk with McKinsey consultants and clients
• Lead teams on risk engagements
• Take lead in developing new distinctive risk approaches to support top management-level strategic decisions
• Contribute to professional development of McKinsey colleagues by
helping to design and deliver training programs on risk and finding new
ways to create innovative and distinctive services
• Industry focus on energy/natural resources, basic
materials/chemicals, industrial, travel and pharma/medical products.
Functional approach cuts across strategy, corporate finance, and
operations/supply chain management
Desired Skills: The ideal candidate will posses:
• 5+ years experience in risk management in any industry sector
and/or experience in a professional consultancy environment (with risk
as a focus) and/or comparable experience in corporate finance, supply
chain, or trading/intermediation with significant exposure to risk
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Proven ability to lead teams in a business setting, motivate
others, communicate complex ideas clearly, gain the respect of clients
and colleagues, and work collaboratively
• Demonstrated outstanding business acumen
Please note that we require both local language and English language
fluency for all positions in countries where English is not the native
language.
Background/Training:
• Post-graduate degree (preferably in
Statistics or an MBA or Economics degree with a strong quantitative
focus) from a respected institution with an outstanding academic
record.
