business intelligence and data warehousing solutions. We offer services
in information strategy, data integration, business intelligence,
master data management and data warehousing, with a specialization in
"big-data" solutions for those with high data volumes or complex
information challenges. Increased demand for our expertise has
created opportunities for experienced professionals to play a
significant role in the growth and strategic development of our Retail
& Consumer Products Practice.
As a Business Analyst you will be responsible for capturing and
interpreting customer needs, writing functional specifications and test
plans. You will partner with the business community to identify and
document user requirements in both structured interviews and JRD/JAD
settings, work with data analysts to understand data quality issues,
and drive the resolution of discrepancies. The Business Analyst will
support data modeling activities, lead the definition of detailed
business rules for validating and transforming data, and create layouts
and specifications for end-user reports. In certain cases, the
Business Analyst will also drive the creation of system and user
acceptance test plans and analyze business and technology support
processes using a standard risk assessment methodology to identify key
risks.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the IT industry
with at least three of those spent specifically as a business analyst
for data warehousing and/or business intelligence projects preferably
in the retail industry
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing Architectures, ETL Tools (i.e. AB
Initio, Informatica, Datastage), ERD toolkits (Erwin) or Business
Intelligence tools (i.e. Business Objects, Cognos)
- Strong relational database skills, specifically understanding SQL
queries and core database structures (i.e. keys, dimensional models,
slowly changing dimensions)
- Possess a deep understanding of business analytics, including the
demonstrated ability to design reporting & analytic systems,
develop BI strategies, participate in strategic assessments,
and/or discovery engagements
- Previous experience in the areas of; process documentation, process maps, and process architectures
- Ability to perform detailed data analysis (i.e. determine the
structure, content and quality of the data through examination of
source systems and data samples)
- Experience leading and facilitating requirements and analysis
meetings, including resolution of conflicts over data and business rule
definitions
- Past experience playing a business analysis role in the Retail
industry and familiarity with buying and merchandising, store
operations, and/or sales and marketing
- Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment
- Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
- Ability to travel to the client site as needed
- BS degree (MBA preferred) or equivalent experience required
