Job Description: The Advanced Applications Engineer will work in the Global Technical Assistance Center (GTAC).  Possesses and applies technical product or domain knowledge for a set of products (Solid Edge and Teamcenter) and discipline knowledge, to a variety of activities.Maintains and demonstrates expertise in a product, or group of products, that are developed or sold by the company; industry and process knowledge in relevant product areas; and technical knowledge in the particular discipline.At this level the employee is able to perform all of the essential functions under general direction.May provide technical direction to work groups and managers. Performs essential activities in more than one area of the product.Specifically assigned to the Review Product Specification activity.Possesses additional technical understanding of the product. Mentors other applications engineers.

Responsibilities include:

Assist customers in the use of Siemens PLM software; interfacing with management to escalate key customer issues; developing technical articles (technical writing) for publications/newsletters, and customer self-help tools; assist in testing and verification of software fixes during the development cycle.

• Answer 800 number calls from clients and provide solutions for theirproblems.

• Under general direction, analyze client’s problem and provide a solution or a workaround in a timely manner the meets the customers needs.

• Duplicate client problems, provide explicit problem examples to development, and write detailed problem and enhancement reports.

• Actively participate in GTAC department duties including: product testing; incident report, problem report, and enhancement request maintenance; GTAC Quarterly and Symptom/Solution article creation, and staff meeting discussions.

• Identify critical customer issues and communicate to leaders.

• Expand scope of product knowledge to include additional functional areas, applications, focal points, or modules, while maintaining area of expertise

• Provide accurate exchanges of information that show knowledge and understanding of GTAC processes and procedures.

Requirements

Qualified candidates should have a strong background / interest in Data Management, some experience in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Design, customer support and call tracking systems would be a plus. A minimum of two to three years, general PDM experience. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft products, Office, SQL and or Oracle is preferred. This position requires analytical, writing, and communication skills, as well as a thorough knowledge of computer systems, knowledge of networking, databases, and data management.
