Description
The Master Black Belt is first and foremost a leader
of change by engage business leaders to adopt Six Sigma and Continuous
Improvement (CI) tools and techniques. The MBB will be
responsible for on-going development, execution, and maintenance of
Corporate Six Sigma policies and practices as well as overseeing the
certification and guidance of Six Sigma Black Belts and
Greenbelts. They will be providing technical and business support
to the overall deployment of CI initiatives worldwide with specific
support of Black Belt (BB) and Green Belt (GB) projects.
- Motivate leaders to establish a sense of urgency for
engraining continuous improvement principles, aligning their
organization, and building the infrastructure to achieve breakthrough
results
- Collaborate with leaders to create and understand a
case for action to integrate Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement (CI)
tools and techniques into their business processes
- Encourage an align leaders by communicating a case
for action, providing leader education, and defining what commitment
looks like (roles, expectations, implications, etc.)
- Develop CI deployment plans that are integrated and
aligned to key business objectives and include customer, business, and
employee measures of success.
- Build a sustainable infrastructure to support the integration of Six Sigma and CI.
- Assist organizations to identify core and enabling
business processes, determine customer requirements, measure and assess
their performance, and enable them to be flawlessly executed
- Identify organizational core and enabling processes, identify process owners, and key performance measures
- Use various tools and techniques to identify and
prioritize customer needs and expectations, including the VOC, Kano,
QFD, focus groups, customer surveys, etc. Define and describe the
concept of CTQs.
- Assist leadership in establishing performance
dashboards and methods to collect, analyze, report and review data and
ensure accuracy, timeliness and consistency of performance data
interpretation and enable sound decision making.
- Work with leadership to prioritize, resource, and manage opportunities for improvements
- Assist organizations to deliver validated business
benefit by selecting and completing the highest strategic business
impact projects
- Develop and manage multiple Black/Green Belts.
Provide one-on-one project review & mentoring in application of CI
methodology and tools.
- Enable the team leader to perform multiple
execution activities to accomplish the project objectives while
balancing the projects competing demands, scope, time and cost.
- Monitor and evaluate teams in relation to
established goals and objectives and determine when, why, and how to
reward teams and celebrate their success.
- Incorporate the continuous improvement tools and
techniques throughout the organization by communicating and leveraging
best practices, educating associates and leaders, executing and
monitoring deployment, and recognizing and rewarding success
- Build/update communication plan that builds understanding and buy-in for the case for action to integrate CI.
- Educate and implement quantitative and qualitative benchmarking
approaches that focus on comparing similar output or process results
reported by top-performing companies called “best practice”
or “best-in-class.”
- Develop robust Six Sigma curricula (BB, GB, MBB, Champion, and
general awareness) linked to required Six Sigma Body of Knowledge.
- Develop and conduct in-depth Six Sigma methodology training for BB/GB
candidates and project Champions including Executive/Senior Management.
- Provide coaching, counseling and development of individual BBs/GBs and Six Sigma leaders.
- Provide support for on-going development, execution, and maintenance of Corporate Six Sigma policies and practices.
- Willingness to travel 20%-30%
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree required--Masters Degree with emphasis in Business preferred
- Certified Master Black Belt required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in areas of Six Sigma, Lean, DFSS, and consulting required
- Describe the relationship between CI methodologies,
define and distinguish between these methods and apply them in various
situations
- Define and describe concepts/tools such as the Six
Sigma DMAIC model, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams,
flowcharts, control charts, check sheets, scatter diagrams, histograms,
root cause analysis, PDCA, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA),
statistical process control (SPC), etc.
- Define and describe concepts such as value chain,
flow, pull, perfection, etc., and tools commonly used to eliminate
waste, including kaizen, 5S, error-proofing, value-stream mapping, etc.
- Define and describe concepts such as Robust Design,
Taguchi’s Loss Function Model to drive out flaws of a product or
process during the design stage and tools commonly used in DFSS such
as, Quality Functional Deployment, design scorecards, simulation,
prototype, Pugh diagram, etc.
- Define and describe the validation concepts,
definitions, and terminology associated with GMPs and the philosophy
and key principles of validation such as Installation Qualification,
Operational Qualification, Performance Qualification, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills including communications, facilitation, consulting, coaching, and influencing.
- Ability to work effectively with Senior Management
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor and coach Black Belts and Champions
- Demonstrated project management excellence. Track record of results.
- Excellent team facilitation/leadership skills. Teamwork/collaborative style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks
- Proficiency with key PC software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Minitab)
