The Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters provides insights --
information, benchmarks and analysis -- that enable organizations to
manage costs, improve performance and enhance the quality of healthcare.
Responsibilities:
Support cost/pricing analysis, competitive
positioning, business plan development, product positioning. Compile
and analyze marketing or industry data and information Work with
product development community including management in sales,
engineering and corporate communications throughout the product
development process. Support the creation of a vision for products by
analyzing key markets, understanding customer needs, and considering
technology trends and opportunities for the organization to create or
improve upon the consumer experience. Conduct primary and secondary
market research, market segmentation, distribution assessment, and
competitive analysis to evaluate a variety of potential product
applications.
Qualifications
- Current MBA student (or recent graduate) preferred.
- Strong business acumen, writing, presentation, and analytical skills
- Complimentary technical and commercial aptitude;
fluency in the languages of technology, business, and product
marketing/management
- Financial analysis understanding and/or experience strongly preferred.
- Market research and segmentation
- Primary research
- Competitive analysis including pricing/ cost position ideal.
- Experience opportunities
- Work independently to provide research and analytic support on outcomes research projects and proposals
- Lead analytic projects
- Produce customer deliverables
- Conduct data analysis using basic skills in statistics and database management
- Interact with clients in a professional manner and respond quickly to client requests
- Interact with project team in a collegial and professional manner
- Help foster teamwork to complete designated tasks
- Travel to meet with customers as required
- Evidence excellent writing skills
- Have education and/or experience in statistics or
biostatistics, epidemiology, applied mathematics, public health,
medical sociology, and/or health policy
- Have demonstrated facility to learn and apply analytic software tools
While interns are not expected to demonstrate all of
the above competencies, the internship is designed to help interns gain
experience in these areas. The internship location will ideally
be Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is the largest office for the provider
(i.e. hospitals) and payer (i.e. government and employer) decision
support markets of Thomson Reuters. Candidates interested in
employment upon both completing the internship and graduating from
their masters programs, will be considered for opportunities in Ann
Arbor, Atlanta, Boston/Cambridge, Chicago/Evanston, Nashville,
Sacramento, Santa Barbara, and Washington, D.C./Baltimore office
locations, in addition to individual customer sites.
The H-1B visa cap has been fulfilled for fiscal year
2008 which begins October 1, 2007 and therefore Thomson Reuters is
unable to sponsor new (first-time) H-1B visas.
