POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsibilities of the Senior Production Engineer
in the San Joaquin Valley Business Unit (SJVBU) areas include
identification and implementation of production enhancing
opportunities, expense monitoring and optimization and economic
value-adding projects. The selected candidate will provide technical
support to area operations, as well as maintain on-going communications
with Technical Teams and Operations personnel.
This role will involve working in one of the premier heavy oil
operations in the world. The primary recovery method is gravity
drainage, and the injection of steam into the reservoirs has resulted
in significant increased recovery. Fields consist of horizontal and
conventional vertical wells. Flexible work schedule, 9/80 or
traditional 40-hour week.
Position Details: RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
* Optimize existing steamfloods, oversee systems, data collection and analysis, measurement and process improvements.
* Oversee implementation of capital projects.
* Work with Operations to maximize economic production.
* Develop and implement workover, replacement well, subsidence monitoring and mitigation and well stimulation opportunities.
* Communicate and cooperate with Operations and Production Engineers,
Asset Development Teams, Operators and other Technical personnel to
maximize economic production, as well as assist in the execution of
asset development plans.
* Participate in general business activities, including business plan look backs, property tax reviews and business planning.
* Lead/participate in special project assignments and teams.
* Utilize analytical skills with engineering process knowledge to maximize results.
* Mentor new hires, interns and experienced staff to ensure high level of proficiency.
* Identify and implement new technologies for enhanced production and recovery.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Petroleum Engineering required.
* A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required; a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
* Production Engineering experience and success in a variety of assets.
* Strong fundamental wellwork opportunity identification skills and the desire to mentor less experienced engineers.
* Heavy oil production operations, along with some shared facilities experience.
* Steamflood experience and heat management skills desired.
* Database querying and statistical analysis skills are critical competencies needed.
* The ability to lead and mentor less experienced engineers and develop the skills of others.
* The ability to develop workable solutions, and implement optimum
results using available technical tools (DSS, MS Office, spreadsheet,
query, macros, PEEP, etc.)
