Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining; marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation.

Chevron Energy Technology Company in Richmond, CA is currently searching for a Test Engineer-Fuels to assist with the implementation of fundamental and applied R&D programs in support of Chevron's development of advanced fuels. This position is in the Fuels and Advanced Combustion Technology (FACT) unit and will report to the Fuels Development Manager.
 
Position Details:  Key Responsibilities:

•Assists FACT team members in the design and implementation of fuels R&D programs using laboratory engines and vehicle test facilities.
•Supports and collaborates on fundamental and applied multidisciplinary R&D programs in support of FACT business. This includes applying internal combustion engine/chemistry fundamentals and problem solving skills to develop new fuel technologies for Chevron.
•Assist supervisor and fuels team members to develop new test procedures and protocols, help design and conduct test programs.
•Acquires and analyzes engine and laboratory data, summarizes in tabular and graphical form, writes reports.
•Manages technical projects under direction of program manager.
•Develops and implements efficient, application specific commercialization protocols and tools.
•Helps specify, procure, and use state-of-the-art engine instrumentation.
•Prepares summary reports and makes technical presentations to internal customers.
•Maintains a safe work environment and actively promotes safety principles to co-workers.

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
•Candidates with a Bachelors Degree must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
•Detailed knowledge of internal combustion engines.
•Detailed knowledge of engine laboratory and/or vehicle test methods.
•Ability to work safely in a lab environment.
•Ability to design and conduct experiments and/or programs.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.
•Basic understanding of statistics, statistical test design, and familiarity with analytical instruments.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
•Training in engine combustion and experience with engines, vehicles or vehicle systems.
•Experience in an engine laboratory environment, demonstrated mechanical aptitude and an understanding of combustion and fuel chemistry is preferred.

Relocation Options:

•Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

•An expatriate assignment will not be considered.
