The Position:
Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence,
the Tech Lead will combine good overall business knowledge with keen
development and analytical skills. Their deep knowledge of technology,
software development and decision support will enable them to deliver
powerful solutions in support of Netflix’s customer groups,
including finance, content, operations and marketing.
Communication, development and analytical skills are fundamental
requirements for success. Use of Business Intelligence or Query tools
is also highly important. Preferred tools could include SAS, SQL, Ab
Initio, Microstrategy, Oracle, PL/SQL, Visual Basic, and/or Teradata).
The business intelligence team at Netflix is looking for a lead
developer to work with a world class team to develop high impact
applications for a wide variety of different business groups. Do you

We are looking for a Lead Developer that can:
• Deliver robust, complex applications in a dynamically changing business environment
• Deliver clear written and oral communications with analyst
teams, internal customer teams, other IT development groups, product
managers, operations analysts
• Actively question and challenge customers to understand their requirements and reach optimal requirements.
• Manage and lead the development of business intelligence applications.
• Quickly triage and deliver estimates that have a high degree of reliability for accuracy
• Successfully implement process improvements impacting own work and work of others.
• Negotiate customer priorities and workload for many internal customers and team members.
• Interact with cross-functional teams to deliver projects within committed time frames.
• Mentor and help improve the skills of fellow developers
• Lead design and code walk-thrus in order to help improve the overall quality of code developed in the BI team.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10
years of development experience, with at least 5 years of lead
development experience. Experience as a systems analyst, systems
architect, and/or business systems analyst a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Track record of complex systems delivery – including system design, architecture, and development
• Solid communication skills at all levels within an organization
• Excellent project management skills; ability to multi-task
• Strong analytic skills
• Experience weaving in quality software development practices
resulting in low bug rates and minimal rework due to misses between
business requirements and UAT
• Agile or RAD experience a plus
• Experience developing applications in an iterative development environment
• Adaptable to development methodologies other than waterfall approach
• Release management experience
• Responsive, team-oriented personal style for effectiveness with internal clients and colleagues
• Excellent SQL skills required
• BA required; degree in computer science or equivalent discipline preferred;
