Job Description:
 
The Senior Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer position works to improve supplier performance and products. Roles and responsibilities as follows:  develop Supplier Quality Improvement Plans through analysis of supplier performance data and lead supplier quality improvements; provide Supplier Quality Engineering support to Mechanical Receiving Inspection; assess supplier process requirements to assure compliance to requirements; drive suppliers to Root Cause Corrective Actions through eCATS; lead Supplier Quality effort for supplier First Article Inspections; support customer reviews for supplier quality; supplier Quality Customer interface during program audits; provide supplier quality support during DNV audits; generate Inspection Instructions.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with heavy mechanical industry/environment experience.
  • Proven ability in communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence and bring about change.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis methodologies, and ability to use them effectively to bring about desired results.
  • Heavy leadership experience.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time,

The position located at the Phoenix Deer Valley facility reporting to the Avionics and Electronics (AVEL) R&O Quality Director. This position is responsible for driving strategic quality initiatives while working directly with internal/external customers and suppliers.   This position will drive systemic improvement throughout the global AVEL network, currently 21 sites located in 8 countries.   The Quality Assurance Engineer has the responsibility to identify opportunities and provide leadership to make quality a competitive advantage for the AvEl organization and its customers.
 
Responsibilities
  • Ensure Quality Management System is approved, understood and executed by associates in the R&O organization, with special emphasis on product and processes in accordance with FAA Part 145, AS9100, AS9110 and/or customer and regulatory requirements as necessary.
  • Accountable for implementing and proper execution of the internal and external audit program to measure the overall effectiveness of the quality management system.
  • Manage all aspects of Quality Assurance R&O on-site as well as interface with manufacturing to ensure proper flow of information and data for continued through life product support
  • Review contractual documents to ensure compliance to customer requirements, FAA regulatory and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Document work through work instructions and policy and procedures and ensure proper implementation of those requirements.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, R&O product lines and OEM manufacturing to resolve quality related issues and lead root cause/corrective actions to prevent recurrence through eCats.
  • Lead and participate in Lean/Six Sigma activity to drive continuous improvement
  • Respond to Atlas requests related to quality issues and communicate the level of customer satisfaction (VOC)
  • Identify and execute projects leading to standardization, simplifying and improving existing quality systems
  • Utilize enablers such as Honeywell Operating Systems, lean/six sigma and Digitalworks, to identify best practices and drive continuous quality improvement throughout the organization
  • Drive Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to prevent defects
  • Support and understand Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) program and philosophy 

Qualifications
Basic Qualificiations
  • Bachelor degree is required and minimum 5 years experience in technical field with emphasis in electrical and avionics
  • Greenbelt is required, Blackbelt preferred
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations with special emphasis on FAR Part 145 and Part 21.

Summary
Quality Engineer for the manufacture of mechanical and electromechanical products.  Performs and analyzes routine to moderately complex engineering functions, quality control functions, designs, and specifications to achieve efficient, cost effective and reliable quality processes, applying mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies.  Participates on Product Realization Teams to provide quality input for the development, manufacture, and acceptance of products.  Analyzes product designs to develop new and improve existing quality processes.  Assists with quality improvement projects ranging from product specific to business processes.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Develops inspection/acceptance processes and writes detailed procedures for such processes.
  • Analyzes, characterizes, and implements controls on processes utilizing the Six Sigma methodology.
  • Participates on Product Realization Teams to provide quality input for the development, manufacture, and acceptance of a variety of products.
  • Coordinates the design of product acceptance equipment and the ordering of testers, gages, and equipment to support production acceptance.
  • Develops test procedures and performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product manufacturability and inspectability.
  • Provides technical assistance to inspection areas.
  • Evaluates opportunities for defect prevention and implements preventative corrective actions.
  • Develops and monitors quality metrics, quality levels, and quality trends.
  • Leads or assists with quality improvement projects for products or business processes.
  • Interacts with customers, suppliers, design agencies, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations regarding product discrepancies.
  • Assists in the design and/or project management of both new and current programs, projects, components, tools, and acceptance equipment.
  • May perform other duties as required.
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established ES&H requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe Assists in the design and/or project management of new and current products, programs, components, tools and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of senior or staff level engineers or departmental management.

SUMMARY
Metrology Engineer. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducts research and development experiments to resolve complex engineering and quality problems involving highly technical and scientific methods.

2. Writes technical reports on results and conclusions drawn from experiments conducted and incorporates findings in formal specifications.

4. Participates in establishing calibration procedures on new equipment and components.

6. Plans and performs engineering testing and development programs and uses advanced statistical and other scientific methods to address and resolve critical engineering and production problems to assure precise and reliable calibration processes.

7. Determines acceptability of calibration processes and materials in conjunction with customers, quality, and other affected organizations.

8. Recommends innovative solutions to processing and design problems based on research.

9. Provides technical consultation to others, and leads technical project teams.

10. Evaluates and implements innovations and technological advances that improve quality, reduce flowtime, improve productivity, and enhance operational surety.

11. Performs highly complex calibration and measurement services, recommends changes in calibration procedures to improve services, and solves special measurement problems.
 
Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of four years experience in engineering of products or processes or comparable related technical activities, including application of advanced engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments.

Additional Qualifications

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Calibration lab experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with calibration standards and documents (e.g. ISO 17025)
  • Demonstrated experience in project or technical leadership desired
  • Ability to apply advanced design, development, evaluation, and six sigma principles to highly complex customer-needs to improve calibration processes.
  • Experience or familiarity with calibration uncertainty analyses.
