Database Administrator-MS SQL Server, Scantron Corporation, Irvine, CA

Excellent opportunity to join a great team that develops web software for the K-12 education market. Scantron is looking for a confident DBA with experience maintaining high-volume commercial databases. Applicants will need to show solid experience and ability in security, recoverability, performance tuning, and database availability.

Candidates must have excellent writing and presentation skills.  You must have proven database administration experience and demonstrate a passion for innovation in a fast-paced team environment.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science/related degree or equivalent industry experience.

Successful Attributes

• 5 years Database Management System experience
• 3 years experience as database administrator for enterprise web based solutions
• Proficient in SQL Server 2005 database performance monitoring and tuning
• Strong index analysis and query tuning skills
• Ability to identify organic growth trends
• Ability to analyze and implement database best practices
• Knowledge of clustering SQL Server 2005
• Experienced in T-SQL and stored procedures
• Solid experience with DTS and SSIS
• MCDBA Certification
• Must have good leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter
• Excellent problem solving skills and an eye for detail

Must be able to work quickly and effectively under high pressure. Must have good communication skills and experience with writing and verifying technical documentation. This job will require some off-hour, on-call duties.
