SENIOR MANAGEMENT ENGINEER - 4078
Requires a
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent,
Master’s degree preferred. Seven years of healthcare experience
involving strategic process improvement projects focusing on capacity,
patient flow and throughput improvement opportunities in an academic
medical center strongly desired. Experience should include strong
project management responsibilities. Substantial exposure to hospital
decision support systems desired. Prefer Six Sigma and/or Lean Sigma
certification.
OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
Reporting to the Vice
President, Business Development and Operational Efficiency the Senior
Management Engineer is an internal consultant, teacher, facilitator,
coach, and project manager who targets strategic projects focused on
high impact capacity, patient flow and throughput improvement
opportunities initially in the hospital and over time elsewhere in the
health care system. The Senior Management Engineer will play a lead
role in: (1) the application of management science/operations research
and analytical methods to help make better strategic and operational
decisions and to leverage this information in a practical manner to
improve operational performance and efficiency. Analytical technologies
that may be used are simulation, optimization, and probability and
statistics and (2) the use and spread of a fact-based
“lean” operating system with a focus on establishing a
common lexicon, facilitating lean culture, thinking, and processes
within the healthcare system. This is accomplished by identifying and
eliminating waste, eliminating bottlenecks and improving processes.
Additionally, culture change is accomplished through teaching,
facilitation and coaching to break down functional barriers, enhance
teamwork among multi-disciplinary improvement teams, and leveraging
rapid-cycle improvement techniques to achieve operational efficiencies.
The Senior Management Engineer will plan, implement and/or coordinate
operational improvement initiatives. In addition, the Senior Management
Engineer will assist management in decision-making regarding ongoing
projects and the development of improvement initiatives. The Senior
Management Engineer will gather data from multiple sources assess the
value of information and determine the best method for analysis,
decision-making and improvement. The Senior Management Engineer will
work closely with health care system leadership, hospital’s
senior management & staff, fiscal services, and physician and
medical staff as required for operational improvement initiatives.
