Department Description Return Analysis Engineering is responsible
for driving customer satisfaction and product quality improvements by
managing Connected Home (CHS) field review boards and through field
issues resolution cycle time via: new product introduction initial
returns analysis MOL performance tracking and targeted sampling and
lessons learned feedback.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
Return Analysis Engineering Principle Staff Engineer responsible for
driving customer satisfaction and product quality improvement through
execution on critical Quality improvement projects, as well as
representation of the Global Repair to Field Review Boards and
Engineering product teams. Provide process, data-analysis, technical,
and problem-solving leadership to Engineering teams for complete launch
to end-of-life product coverage. Provide support and mentor guidance to
the regional service community. Liaise with internal and external
service, quality, manufacturing and development engineering groups to
influence business strategy development based on customer feedback.
Liaise with external customer management and engineering experts on
specific product quality issues. Develop a close team working
relationship with Engineering, Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing, and
regional Service organizations. Represent Global Repair and / or the
Return Analysis Engineering in leadership meetings and communicate
plans and results clearly and accurately.^^
Specific Knowledge/Skills
BS Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent with 5-10 years
experience in the consumer electronics industry. MBA or equivalent
experience preferred. Preferred experience in design and / or support
of technology industry and network operations. Strong technical
background in manufacturing, customer service, and / or engineering.
Strong problem solving, statistical / data analysis skills –
Green / Black Belt Certified (preferred but not required). Strong team
building, coaching, program management and leadership skills. Strong
communication and presentation skills. Must have sound technical
knowledge to be able to influence and drive design changes. Adaptable
and flexible to changing business environments, while providing
exceptional situational leadership. Ability to manage multiple
projects, map out and set objectives and priorities. Anticipate
problems and proactively work to resolve them. Risk management skills
with ability to identify and mitigate potential risks as they apply to
field quality. Basic understanding of financial/accounting analysis.
Ability to communicate and interact with high level management, produce
and deliver presentations to a wide range of audiences. Team oriented
individual with ability to motivate others.

* 5+ years of engineering experience in the following areas; outsourced
manufacturing; PWB assembly; back end assembly; IPC standards and/or
DFM
* Department Description Technical Operations supports both
Engineering NPI activity such as bring-up engineering models by
designing and providing custom designed equipment DFM and DFT
assistance reliability testing and new product launch requirements by
establishing processes and necessary documentation as well as other
product realization task including establishing the requirements for
manufacturing products in an outsource model.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
- Designing and procuring required unique tooling to support NPI and
working with outsource contract manufacturer (CM) for production
requirements.
- Develop processes and documentation for NPI production assembly and
ECN requirements and maintain revision control of products within the
manufacturing facility and at the CM.
- Provide Technical support to the CM for Proto build issues
- Responsible for developing project specific engineering plans for
product start up at local prototype shops and transitioning to a remote
CM.
- Provide DFM feedback to Design by interfacing with Engineering,
manufacturing and suppliers to insure the manufacturability of the
products during NPI.
- Work with CM on Design of Experiments need to meet new Technology requirements (PWB, process or packaging)
- Analyze defects to root cause and suggest design improvements and or implement process improvements.^^
Specific Knowledge/Skills
- 5+ years of experience in the following areas; outsourced manufacturing; PWB assembly; IPC standards and DFM.
- Experienced in the following: SMT/Assembly IPC-610 standards, Lead
Free Process / ROHS process requirements, or High Level/Final Assembly
Level requirements.
- Experienced in using generic tools sets for PCB layout (i.e. GC Preview, Allegro viewer) and Product documentation systems.
- Experience with ISO or TL9000 requirements in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma concepts.
- Experience in a high volume manufacturing a plus
- Familiar with RF products and plus.
