As
a Credit Policy Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for one, or a combination
of, the following three functions: Segmentation and Collection Strategy -
gather customer behavior data from a wide variety of data sources, utilizing
statistical modeling tools to identify actionable insights for improvement.
Segment customers into appropriate risk levels and recommend suitable
collection treatments (strategies). Design and test the effectiveness of new
collections strategies and quantify the impact to bottom line. Interface with
operations management on a regular basis to highlight observations on portfolio
trends and progress on ongoing collection initiatives.
Data
Infrastructure - develop a detailed understanding of interactions between
various data sources and their relevance in problem solving and analysis. Work
within a cross-functional team to design, develop and support a reliable
“one-stop shopping” source for operational data. Develop, test, and deploy new
datasets and variables that enhance analytical efforts. Optimization,
Simulation and Modeling - apply operations research, mathematical modeling and
process re-engineering techniques to solve business problems and make better
decisions. Develop optimization models to improve scheduling, dialer operations
and recovery operations. Build Arena simulation models to determine the impact
of internal and external (macro economic) factors on business performance and
operational requirements.
Basic
Qualifications:
•
MBA or M.S. in Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics or other
analytical discipline
•
Ability to present analyses in a clear, concise, and convincing manner through
oral and written presentations on a frequent basis
•
Knowledge of analytical principles and methods such as: descriptive and
inferential statistics, probability theory, time series analysis, regression,
experimental design, and decision tree methods (CHAID, C&RT)
•
At a minimum, basic programming skills and a desire to learn and use SAS is
required
•
Ability to extract and manipulate large datasets using SAS in a mainframe and
PC environment is a strong plus
•
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Develop
a variety of profiles, queries, or reports using statistical analysis or other
software application packages, business unit databases, or mainframe systems to
assist end-users, or clients of a business unit, in analysis activities.
Maintains and adds data to existing profiles to maintain historical archives.
Support end-users, clients, or other members of the department by manipulating
various data for quantitative research projects. Conducts research projects to
clarify and develop user needs. Meet with end-users, or clients of a business
unit, to discuss projects requiring the extraction or manipulation of data
stored in organization databases or mainframe systems. Clarifies, and confirms
the specifications. Offer additional suggestions or alternatives to assist the
end-user or client in obtaining data in the most expedient time frame. Ensure
consensus with the end-user, or client of the business unit, on necessary
specifications.
Independently
assumes general research and computer programming projects for assigned
department. Serve as a team leader of small to medium project teams. Develops,
tests, and writes moderate to difficult complex application programs, queries,
or profiles according to the specifications as required. Modify existing
programs as necessary to meet the needs of the end-user, or client of the
business unit. Maintain data marts. Modify data marts as necessary to meet the
needs of the end-user, client, or department. Prepares data according to the
needs of the end-users, client, or department including the provision of
downloads of the information for the end-user or client to further use in
developing complex reports which require data manipulation and analysis.
Develop
charts or other visual aids to assist in understanding the data. Implement
tracking devices for evaluating progress of meeting project goals and
objectives. Builds dialer download profiles as required. Builds or maps tracker
profiles as required. Performs maintenance of generated programs, queries, and
profiles to ensure organizational computer systems operate in an efficient
manner. Receive “raw data” from outside sources. Manipulate data to input into
database. Use data according to the needs of the business unit or outside
client. Works with members of Technology Services on a variety of issues and
projects as mutually needed. Submit data marts to Technology Services for
implementation into data warehouse. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic
Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, related field
or equivalent experience
•
One year proven statistical analysis and/or MIS experience, or equivalent
•
Knowledge and understanding of financial services preferred
•
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication
skills
•
Knowledge of segmentation, targeting, optimization, and life cycle management
required
•
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and
software packages
•
A complete understanding of Base SAS software, certification preferred
•
Proficient in importing / exporting data sets, combining data sets, able to
identify and correct SAS programming logic errors, able to develop detail and
summary reports
•
Excellent capacity for understanding the broader context of a problem and
communicating extremely effectively
•
Proficient with standard office productivity tools such as Excel, PowerPoint,
and Word
•
Ability to successfully work within a team environment
•
Self-starter that takes the ownership and initiative to deliver high-quality
results
•
Eligible to work in the United States

Provides
support for large and/or complex credit policy, risk and/or marketing projects
requiring advanced analytical, quantitative and technical skills. Develops and
recommends credit-related policies as appropriate. Conduct complex research
projects and/or statistical models related to customers of business unit(s)
supported to include project design, data collection, analysis, and summary of
findings, recommendations and presentation of results. Monitor and evaluate
performance of credit support systems utilizing internal or external scoring,
management software packages or programs to aid in managing account acquisition
and portfolio management. Conduct studies of customer groups and product types
and develop computer-based models for projections (i.e. delinquency and charge-off,
cost and profitability, new account acquisition, credit limit setting, credit
support system performance and account management). Gather and analyze economic
and other data to determine impact on business operations, as appropriate.
Design and write mainframe and PC programs for statistical analysis of
portfolio performance, which may include developmental and production mainframe
programs. Evaluate and implement internal and external credit scoring models
using both traditional and other advanced predictive technologies.
Use
segmentation and optimization tools in strategy development. Manage projects to
develop recommendations for credit policy, credit support systems, bulk
acquisitions, new merchant program structures, profitability/pricing for accounts
and portfolios and provide revenue, cost, and delinquency and loss forecasts.
Responsible for ensuring that account acquisition or account management systems
are operating efficiently. Code, test, program and implement new policy changes
for account acquisition or account management systems. Train, provide direction
to and review the work of less experienced analysts and/or special project
teams, as necessary. Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk
controls in accordance with Company and regulatory standards, policies and
practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss
events. Complete other related duties as assigned and support the Company’s
Diversity programs.
Basic
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s
degree in mathematics, STATISTICS, finance, economics, related field or
equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred
Three
years proven statistical analysis and/or MIS experience, or equivalent,
Knowledge and understanding of financial services preferred
Strong
organizational, analytical, problem-solving, project management and verbal and
written communication skills
Proficiency
with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software
packages; Strong programming skills to include knowledge of statistical
