QA Engineer

Description
Quantcast needs QA engineers to help us develop cleanly designed and coded web-based applications and intuitive, user-friendly websites. We want a MacGyver that will be able to spot bugs and fix them as he/she goes. It is essential that the candidate be familiar and up to date with Java as we are a small development team and rely on our QA people to redesign and fix bugs and resolve code issues during the QA phase.

Requirements
* BS or MS in Computer Science
* 1 to 3 years of recent Java development experience (candidiates will need to pass a java coding test)
* Familiarity with Unix programming environment
* Working knowledge of JAVA, JSP, JMS, Spring, Hibernate and XML
* Knowledge of any of Perl or Python
* Experience with Javascript, CSS and XHTML a plus
* Experience with automated toolsets a plus

Responsibilities

* Testing and debugging of Quantcast's web-apps and sites and develop test plans for team products
* Show a commitment to craftsmanship and a desire to create best-in-class web-based applications
* Run automated testing toolsets
* Launch and deployment engineering of new tools and applications

Statistician, Quantcast, San Franciso, CA


Job Title: Statistician
Function: Engineering

Duties:
Design and develop analytical techniques for petabyte scale data. Research and design novel algorithms for collecting, organizing, interpreting and summarizing data for identification and targeting of online media audience characteristics and advertising opportunities. Provide novel statistical and machine learning solutions to business-driven data problems. Conduct all aspects of statistical and related research, including project planning and management, data extraction and filtering, algorithm design, implementation and assessment from research to production. Extract and manipulate data, implement and apply statistical algorithms using Java in a large-scale parallel computing framework. Use statistical software to invent new algorithms and models, and to generate test cases for production code. Clearly communicate research results and algorithm details to non-statisticians in verbal and written format. Provide key input during group project meetings to ensure that data handling and coding will support the planned statistical analysis. Coordinate with and manage junior software engineers to enable transition of research-oriented code into production. Devise and implement data quality control tests to catch potential issues in production pipelines. Review and revise software as necessary to ensure the integrity of statistical analyses.  Participate in Scientific Advisory Board meetings and other scientific conventions to interact with the scientific community, keep abreast of current statistical and machine learning research and to enable recruitment.

Minimum Requirements:
-Master’s degree in Statistics or Mathematics and 1 year of progressive experience as Statistician with software development company
-Qualifying experience to include internet technologies, use of terabyte datasets, software programming using statistical software R/S-Plus.
-Knowledge of Java and statistical and machine learning methods and tools.
-Experience in exploratory data analysis and in statistical and data mining processes.
-Must also possess the ability to explain statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
