Software Development Manager, QL2 Software, Seattle, WA

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the team tasked with expanding and maintaining QL2's hosted information services platform. In this position you will lead the design and development of next generation applications that are changing the way businesses manage information. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a management role with a variety of responsibilities in a small, agile organization. This position includes some direct coding responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Perform strategic planning and daily oversight of engineering tasks.
Manage resources and engineering budget.
Recruit, train and motivate developers.
Ensure consistent delivery of high quality releases on a bi-weekly schedule.
Coordinate with other functional areas within the organization. 

Requirements:
10+ years in professional software development.
5+ years working with complex enterprise systems.
3+ years in a management or lead role.
2+ years experience with agile project management and programming methodologies.
3+ years responsibility for high availability systems and applications.
3+ years server-side Java programming experience.
Comfortable prioritizing work on simultaneous projects.
Comfortable operating in a cross-functional role. 

Preferred:
Experience with a variety of technologies including Java, C++, AJAX, J2EE and relational database design.
Experience with specific agile methodologies such as Scrum.
Familiarity with requirements of developing secure applications.
Experience working as an architect on large software projects.
Experience working with off-shore development teams.
Familiarity with open source technologies and platforms including PostgreSQL and Linux.
Experience managing non-development functions such as system and database administration and QA.
Experience working with a variety of team sizes.

This is a Full Time position with about 5% travel requirements.
