Application Engineer, Maplesoft, Waterloo, ON

Job Description

We are looking for a bright and highly-motivated individual to join our user application development team.  In this role, you will develop new engineering design applications using the Maple system.  As the ideal candidate for the position, you have outstanding problem-solving skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.  You understand the engineering design process, and possess the skills to develop next generation engineering design tools.

 In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Using the Maple environment develop engineering design applications in the following areas: control design, signal processing, and system identification.
• Develop new algorithms and implement existing ones from the literature.
• Analyzing requirements, developing new algorithms, create prototypes where necessary, and carrying through with the design, implementation.
• Develop examples to demonstrate the new application.

Experience and Qualifications

• A university degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with mathematical software, such as Maple or MATLAB.
• Experience with simulation environment, such as Simulink, Dymola, or SPICE.
• Strong communication skills
• One to two years experience is highly desirable, and we encourage those with less experience and new graduates to apply.

“Nice-to-have” Skills and Qualifications

• Software development skills (preferably in a larger team)  using one of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Fortran, Maple, Matlab, and LabVIEW.
• Familiarity with multiple operating systems, especially Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
