Senior Decision Science Analyst , Vanguard, Valley Forge, PA

Position Type: Full Time

Description

Vanguard, one of the world's largest investment management companies, seeks a senior-level Decision Science Analyst to support our marketing team. The successful candidate should demonstrate a deep understanding of internal and external data and derived analytics, and be able to consult on their marketing applications. The key responsibilities of this position are to identify actionable analytic results that will deepen existing client relationships, attract new clients, and continuously improve Vanguard's marketing performance.

You'll conduct all phases of the project lifecycle for analytic studies designed to solve marketing problems and identify business development opportunities. This includes identifying and developing segmentation, action and performance characteristics, and gathering and cleansing data. You'll be expected to apply thoughtful analytic design, thorough testing, and quality controls during all project phases.

Primarily you'll use the SAS system to manage and analyze data; you should be able to use appropriate, specialized analytical tools as needed (ex: SAS procs, Enterprise Miner). To identify products that will deepen existing client relationships and target new ones, you'll develop predictive models and scorecards using regression/logistic regression techniques, forecasting, and cluster, segmentation, and time series analyses. You'll build models for response, conversion, assets-invested and ''what-product-next,'' and monitor them for early warnings of changes in prospect/client behavior.

As you expand your expertise in Vanguard's data and external data and its application to marketing, you'll document, apply and share your learnings with managers and analytical staff. You'll prepare and deliver presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement. You'll also conduct informal and formal briefings and train colleagues on unique analysis techniques. As requested, you'll consult on multivariate statistical test design, design of experiments, and sample size selection. You'll also recommend and implement changes to current models and analyses.

Position Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in an analytical major, like economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, marketing research, an applied social science, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; advanced degree preferred.
- Academic training in applied statistics.
- A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in applied quantitative functions in the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in applied statistical techniques, such as cluster and segmentation analysis, time series analysis, regression/logistic regression analysis, and in developing and monitoring scorecards.
- Superior testing and quality control skills.
- Strong SAS programming skills.
- Strong strategic thinking skills and tactical abilities.
- Knowledge of direct marketing.
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Proficiency with MS office, Excel skills in data manipulation and presentation, and intermediate PowerPoint skills.
