The Systems Analyst is responsible for managing and
maintaining the information systems and software programs that are used
by members of the ITS (Information Technology & Services) group for
operations related tasks. The Systems Analyst, as the systems
subject matter expert, works with business analyst(s) to create or
update the business and technical requirements for data
processing. The Systems Analyst is responsible for developing and
executing procedural documents for operating the data processing
systems and ensures system security and integrity of data stored on all
production systems. The Systems Analyst is also responsible for
establishing and managing all quality control and quality improvement
processes related to data processing to ensure that both internal and
external customer expectations on the quality of data are met.
- Analyzes and evaluates present or proposed business
procedures and works with business analyst(s) to create new or update
existing requirements documents that define data processing
needs. Specific areas of concentration are processes related to
the ORYX Transmission process, the Comparative Database build process
and the Data Provisions process.
- Develops new and updates existing quality control measures to identify and correct data integrity issues.
- Develops new and/or updates Visual FoxPro program
scripts to support Data Operations or the ORYX Transmission process
when the need arises.
- Reviews and archives performance statistics related
to production environment; generates usage reports, capacity and needs
analysis. Reports to management on resource consumption and projected
resource utilization. Researches and recommends hardware and software
enhancements.
- Creates and maintains system documentation for the
legacy data processing workstations and servers including where data
processing scripts and programs are located, their interdependency and
why they are used.
- Develops policies and procedures on the usage of the
data processing scripts and programs as well as the workstations and
servers. Oversees the implementation of such policies and procedures.
- Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably Computer Science
- Experience managing small to medium scale projects in a matrix organization.
- Experience building and analyzing system performance metrics and quality control measures.
- Have a proven ability to collaborate with others, initiate action, manage change and take on challenging initiatives.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.
- Must be highly motivated and have an enthusiastic style.
- Solid knowledge of the following:
- Relational databases
- Security controls including encryption technology, firewalls, IDS, VPN
- Administration of Microsoft Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP platforms
- LAN/WAN technologies/equipment including, routers, hubs, switches and protocols
- Quality Control / Quality Improvement processes and metrics
- Experience with the following programming and scripting languages:
- Visual Basic
- Visual FoxPro
- HTML
- PHP
- ASP
- SQL
