The Management Engineer serves as an internal consultant under the
primary direction of the VP of Aspirus Corporate Quality Services\PSO
and secondary direction of the Senior Vice President of Finance\CFO.
The Management Engineer leads projects with the goal of improving
service, quality, resource use, productivity, and cost effectiveness
throughout the organization. The Management Engineer applies and
integrates quantitative approaches to problem solving, planning and
systems improvements; works to improve the availability and validity of
data-driven information for use in analyses, decision making and
performance measurement; and focuses resources on accomplishment of
organizational strategies and goals. Knowledge of the principles,
theories and applications of industrial engineering, business
management, finance, project management, statistical control, quality
improvement, and performance measurement normally acquired through
completion of Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in operations management or
business management. Minimum of two (2) years management engineering
experience utilizing quantitative/ analytical skills in a healthcare
facility required. Prior experience with simulation software,
comparative databases and daily productivity monitoring systems
desired. Knowledge of healthcare operations as they relate to
organizational processes, operations, finance and reimbursement.
Possesses knowledge and application of multiple performance improvement
methods/programs (Lean/Six Sigma/IS0 9000/PDCA, Baldrige/Rapid Cycle
Change). Possesses financial analysis skills as demonstrated by
experience preparing cost-benefit analysis, business plans, and
pro-forma analysis of a service or work process. Possesses strong
computer skills to support data collection and transforming data into
actionable information as demonstrated by skilled use of Excel and
Access to build spreadsheets & databases and writing queries.
Strong verbal & written presentation skills as demonstrated through
education & teaching experiences. Possesses ability to effectively
and efficiently collect data (operational and performance data, work
measurement, motion/time studies, etc.) and accurately interpret data
in a meaningful and actionable way. Possesses ability to manage
assigned projects for timely achievement of project goals and
objectives. Yearly competencies in Blood and Potentially Infectious
Materials, Preventing Tuberculosis, Fire Safety, Working with Hazardous
Chemicals, Disaster & Emergency Preparedness, Corporate Compliance,
Customer Service, Patient Rights, Confidentiality and HIPAA must be
completed prior to working in a healthcare organization.
