PRIMARY Responsibilities/Duties/PROJECT:

This is an exciting opportunity to serve as a Senior Business Analyst driving requirements for technology projects such as Baggage Service Transformation that are part of United’s “customer self-sufficiency” strategy at airports. You will partner with multiple business stakeholders and Information Technology teams to analyze processes associated with the generation and tracking of lost bag claims, recovery of bags and their delivery to customers, communication with customers, and statistics reporting for mishandled bags. You will map out current state and proposed future state processes. You will solidify loosely defined high-level business requirements and transform them into functional and technical designs for the development of automation to support the new processes. You will assist in the estimation of benefits. You will support automation development, testing and field deployment. You may also have the opportunity to participate in the business analysis for other customer self-sufficiency projects such as EasyCheck-in.
 
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of professional experience as a business analyst on technology initiatives, including 2+ years on J2EE-based projects. Experience working with multiple stakeholders to define requirements, develop functional and technical designs, and estimate project benefits. The ability to clearly document and communicate business concepts to technical teams. A good understanding of OOD/A techniques, expertise in use case analysis and development, and knowledge of Project Management processes and tools. Knowledge of airport operations strongly preferred. Self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as in teams. Flexibility to work on multiple projects if needed. Ability to function effectively in a continually evolving organizational environment.
 
Airline or Travel industry knowledge will be a plus.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, or Computer Science.
  • Master‘s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
 
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Standard Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Process mapping using Visio
  • Object Oriented Analysis and Design
  • Use Case Development and Analysis,
  • User Interface design
  • HTML screen development
  • Creation of SQL queries
  • Knowledge of data mining and statistical techniques preferred.
