Basic qualifications:
This candidate will possess a PhD in Statistics or related discipline
and have at least 5 years experience in working in an early stage
medicines development organization, preferably in an oncology
setting. The successful candidate will have experience in
applying innovative statistical design to clinical trials in early
stage drug development with an emphasis on the application of Bayesian,
adaptive and factorial designs. The candidate should have
demonstrated the ability to influence and lead in a matrix environment.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in the design and analysis of clinical trials is required
with one or more of the following: knowledge of Bayesian statistical
methods, adaptive designs and a proven track record with respect to
their application within early stage drug development either within
pharmaceutical industry, biotech or academia. The successful
candidate should have a proven track record of conceiving innovative
(adaptive and/or Bayesian) statistical designs and have published this
work in peer reviewed journals. The candidate should have
extensive knowledge of the logistical and IT requirements of conducting
innovative clinical trials and possess multiple examples of
successfully overcoming logistical obstacles in the conduct of
innovative clinical trials.
Details:
This is a senior role within the Oncology R&D Unit that supports
the Discovery Performance Units, embedding the use of innovative
clinical trial designs within the clinical development programs within
early stage development. This person will be responsible for
applying the latest adaptive and/or Bayesian designs to the clinical
trials within Cancer Research. The candidate will provide
consultancy and training to all disciplines and teams within the
clinical development organization, as appropriate. The successful
candidate will report to the VP of Signal Tranduction DPU within Cancer
Research and will have a dotted line relationship to the head of
Oncology Biometrics and Epidemiology. The person in this position
will work closely with the physicians, scientists and statisticians on
multiple drug project teams across the Discovery Performance Units
The candidate must be an experienced statistical consultant, have good
leadership and networking skills and be an excellent
communicator. Other attributes include: proven influencing and
assertiveness skills, credibility in interactions in the clinical trial
matrix.
