Technical Engagement Manager and Consultant @ Aster Data Systems
Aster Data Systems, a Sequoia-backed company with Stanford roots, is
the emerging leader in low-cost, high-value Data Warehousing and
Business Intelligence database and analytics. Aster is looking to
expand its Professional Services and Support teams with fast-learning
and passionate consultants and managers who are passionate about
technology and customer advocacy.
Position: Technical Engagement Manager and Consultant @ San Carlos, CA and New York, NY
Job Responsibilities:
• Own and deliver business and growth objectives.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects: proposal, risks, resources, budgets, time, tasks, invoicing and change orders.
• Learn product quickly and be able to answer increasingly broader
and deeper range of technical questions, without delegation.
• Overcome hurdles and ensure that new database and analytics
platform is converted to customer production on time and budget; and
customer remains referenceable.
• Proactively communicate and escalate as needed; dashboard and status reporting to C-level.
• Proactively assist Support and Development with Customer bug and feature requests.
• Actively identify opportunities for expanded product usage at deployed sites.
• Assist with deployment of internal processes for improved efficiency and margin.
• Although this role is primarily for post-sales deployment and
ongoing customers, adaptability to occasional presales and POC work
will be needed.
Required Skills and Background:
• BS in Computer Science or related, or equivalent work experience (MS in Computer Science or MBA preferred).
• Start-up, or owning own business experience.
• 5+ years managing systems deployments or Technical Account
Management to enterprise customers, including use of new technology.
• 3+ years of experience with two or more major databases/data
warehouses in a DBA, database engineer, or data modeling role. Current
hands-on database, SQL, and Linux skills required. Experience with
application and algorithm development (Java) desired.
• Project Management skills
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and customer
relationship skills – able to work effectively with customer from
developers and Ops personnel through senior management.
• Able to craft constructive resolutions from challenging situations or personalities.
• Analytical / DW/BI background desirable.
• Must be willing to travel (no visa restrictions)
