Technical Services Consultant @ Aster Data Systems

Business Intelligence database and analytics. Aster is looking to
expand its Professional Services and Support teams with fast-learning
and passionate consultants and managers who are passionate about
technology and customer advocacy.
Position: Technical Services Consultant @ San Carlos, CA and New York, NY
Technical Services Consultant
Job Responsibilities:
• Deploy the nCluster MPP database for customers, covering all
technical aspects of deployment (installation, configuration,
migration, DBA, development tasks); drive toward production and
reference-able customer deployments.
• As a consultant, work toward deadlines, and defined project
scope; handle out-of-scope requests accordingly; proactively
communicate status and escalate issues as needed.
• Work with Presales and Field Engineers to understand customer
use cases and design solutions based on the Aster nCluster data
warehouse and ecosystem tools (BI, ETL, etc.)
• Adapt to provide other work functions (3rd-line Support in time
zone, Presales, Marketing, Training, etc.) as needed in this start-up
environment
• Develop expertise in Ecosystems tools, Hardware, and other technical areas outside of core comfort zone.
Required Skills and Background:
• MS in Computer Science or BS plus equivalent experience
• 3+ years of database/data warehouse experience as a Consultant,
Architect, DBA, database engineer, or data modeling role.
• 3+ years of programming experience, including C/C++ and Java plus either Python or PERL
• 3+ years of experience working with Linux
• Major consultancy firm background a plus
• Hadoop and/or MapReduce experience a plus
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
– able to present to technical thought leaders, including senior
DBAs, data warehouse architects and database developers
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
• Must be willing to travel (no visa restrictions)
