Description
The Market Intelligence Analyst
will assist in providing market analysis and industry insights in an
effort to influence business planning efforts, competitive response
strategies, and new initiative/acquisitions recommendations. This
challenging position will give the right candidate an opportunity to
assist on mission-critical analysis for internal clients, including
Executives, Corporate Strategy, Business Development, Product
Management and Marketing. The Market Intelligence Analyst will assist
in conducting in-depth analysis of various companies in the automotive
and advertising industries, non-classifieds automotive vertical spaces
and emerging technologies to assess potential strategic fit for
AutoTrader.com. This role reports to the Manager of Market Intelligence.
Responsibilities
* Produce regular and ad-hoc
overviews of competitors, new market entrants, potential partners and
acquisition targets, with a key focus on analyzing business models,
strategies, key financials, organizational structures, value
proposition, capabilities, current market position, and likely future
scenarios.
* Assist in providing market
insights to internal stakeholders, including Strategic Planning,
Business Development, Product Management, Marketing and Executives
requesting competitive or industry information and analysis.
* Support in-depth analysis of
various non-classifieds automotive spaces and emerging technology
trends.
* Conduct in-depth competitor
research and analysis based on all external sources available.
* Support manager with
competitive landscape knowledge and key industry drivers, and share
views on opportunities and threats facing the Company.
* Report on competitive activity
and traffic patterns, automotive advertising ad spend and general
industry trends.
* Produce ongoing competitive
reports and deliverables, covering competitive strategies, key
financials, organizational structures, approaches to doing business,
geographic/line of business/ segment mix and trends, SWOT and other key
dimensions.
* Leverage secondary research
sources, primary research studies, and internal/external subject matter
experts to deliver holistic insights to further the long term growth of
the Company.
* Construct sound and succinct
analysis and articulate actionable recommendations to internal clients
(either verbally or in writing).
* Build and manage internal
client relationships and participate in cross-functional analytical
teams.
* Manage secondary research
vendors.
Qualifications
* 2+ years
of professional experience; experience at a strategic consultancy firm
preferred.
* 1+ years
experience in an analytical work environment such as strategy or
management consulting, corporate strategy or complementary functional
experience.
* 2+ years
competitive intelligence experience.
* Bachelor
degree in related field required. MBA strongly preferred.

Background in competitive intelligence and/or market research a plus.
*
Demonstrated ability in leveraging primary and syndicated research,
in-house analytics and broader information to formulate structured and
fact-based reports.
* Ability
to aggregate, analyze and synthesize complex and diverse information
and effectively solve multifaceted problems.
* Ability
to build effective working relationships with internal/external clients
and across teams.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
* Proven
analytical and quantitative skills.
* Strong
teamwork capabilities with the ability to operate independently.
