*Conference Scope*
Innovative creation, development, and dissemination of research ideas
and results on the interface between statistics and engineering for the
support of complex system design and operation, quality and reliability
improvement, and optimal proactive decision-making.
Our current data-rich environment provides unprecedented opportunities
and research challenges for both the statistics and engineering
communities. The development of a novel interface between statistical
analysis methodology and various engineering technologies and solutions
is not only timely, but also has a lasting impact on improving complex
system operations both in manufacturing and service
industries.
In order to promote strong collaborations and multidisciplinary
research between these two research communities, this conference will
bring together worldwide leaders, researchers, developers, and
practitioners to exchange research ideas and results for future
development of this emerging research area. The conference will feature
lectures, panel discussions, and paper presentations, along with an
active social program in the historic city of Beijing in
China.
The topics of interests include, but are not limited to
* applied statistics,
* data mining and machining learning,
* statistical data analysis integrated with engineering models,
* quality and reliability engineering,
* optimal decision making,
* optimal manufacturing and service enterprise systems.
The interface between methodological development and applications are
encouraged. Examples of those applications include
bioinformatics,
information processing and extraction, business decision-making,
sensors and sensor networks, production and manufacturing,
nanotechnology,
healthcare, and financial and service operations.
July 2009, Pasadena, CA USA.
July 24–27, 2009, Tainan, Taiwan.
Washington Convention Center, Washington, DC. August 2-6, 2009
Aalborg,
Denmark. August 12-14. 2009
Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego. August 23-25, 2009,
Post-conference training, August 26-28, 2009
The conference is aimed at bringing together researchers and
practitioners to learn about data mining technology from practical and
theoretical experts. Expect to exchange ideas and experiences focused
on the practice of both data mining and the real world analysis of
complex data. The Conference is intended to serve several
functions:
• A venue to exchange ideas and experiences focused on the
practice of data mining and the art and practice of real world analysis
of complex data.
• A place to learn about data mining technology and
anticipated future developments.
• An opportunity to obtain both basic and advanced training
offered by practical and theoretical experts.

- 26 September 2009, Venice, Italy
The workshop will focus on the most innovative mathematical methods
proposed in the last few years for the analysis and design of networked
systems. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from
control, computer science, communication, game theory, statistics,
mathematics and other areas to discuss emerging topics in networked
systems of common interest.
