Econometrics Explained - by Louise Cook and Mike Holmes
During tough economic times, marketing budgets are more closely scrutinised.  Activities that don't add to the bottom line are increasingly difficult to justify. In this climate, spending on communications can seem like a luxury. So wouldn’t it be easier if there were a way to measure the payback from your marketing communications? There is – it’s called econometrics. With the right data, econometrics can measure the impact your communications have on sales and profit. It can even forecast the effects of future campaigns.

Data Analytics in Batch Operations - By Robert Wojewodka and Terry Blevins, ControlGlobal.com
The use of multivariate statistical data analytics will likely cause people to think in entirely new ways and address process improvement and operations with a better understanding of the process.

Adaptive Control Systems in Marketingnew
by John D. C. Little
Companies try to conduct their marketing operations so as to respond to changing market conditions. A model of such a process is studied for the case of setting promotion rate. Company sales are functions of promotional spending, but the relation changes with time. An adaptive system is devised that works as follows: Information about sales response is collected by performing an experiment. The experimental results are used to update a sales response model. Promotion rate is chosen to maximize expected profit in the next time period.
